Landcare

Yass Area Network of Landcare Groups

The Yass Area Network of Landcare Groups (YAN) was formed in 1996, in response to the need for an integrated approach to address land management and natural resource issues across the Yass Area. The Network incorporates nine Landcare groups, (including three which share a border with the Yass Catchment) with an estimated membership of 400 landholders and community members.

YAN provides a forum for Landcare groups, government agencies, local government, catchment and community organisations to meet and work together on natural resource issues within and beyond the Yass River Catchment.

Our Mission

Working together to achieve a sustainable & productive environment in partnership with community and catchment groups, government & science.

Priority Issues

The priority natural resource management issues affecting Landcare groups in the Network are:

* Dryland Salinity

* Native Vegetation Management (remnant management and vegetation enhancement)

* Stream Bank Zone Management (riparian vegetation management)

* Gully Erosion (soil, gully and stream bank)
