Yass River Renewal

Selected sites along the upper, mid and lower reaches of Yass River will benefit from restoration works to be undertaken in the Yass River Renewal (YR2) Project, funded by the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality and Landcare Australia Ltd.

A variety of methods will be used to maximise environmental outcomes, with community participation, a strong feature of the project.

On-ground works include the re-establishing native vegetation, removing willow infestations, construction of fencing for grazing management and provision of alternate stock water supply, re-alignment and control of bank erosion and stream flow impediments.

The Yass Area Landcare Network have been commissioned to work with the Murrumbidgee CMA in the implementation of the project. Partnerships have been developed with Yass and Palerang Shire Councils and Landcare groups in the area.
